I want to thank the many friends, supporters and neighbors who have elected me to serve the 21st Senate District. Throughout the campaign I have enjoyed working with each of you to address the issues and problems facing our communities and I will continue to do so in Sacramento.

It is a great feeling to wake up every day and know you have the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. Each of us can find that satisfaction in many ways. I certainly have felt it as a classroom teacher, as a community volunteer and as the mayor of my hometown. But, even in these difficult times, there is something special about the challenges and opportunities of working in the state legislature. I left the Assembly with a feeling of accomplishment, but also with a feeling that there is much more to be done – and much more that I can offer to the people of California.
